Abstract: In this work we wanted to highlight the importance that the first great French mathematician Cauchy had in the history of mathematics. He is pioneered the study of analysis, both real and complex, and the theory of permutation groups. He also researched in convergence and divergence of infinite series, differential equations, determinants, probability and mathematical physics. We have reviewed all the phases in the life of the great mathematician, thus highlighting all the salient phases that led him to become a mathematician of considerable importance. Finally we highlighted how the life of the French mathematician ended between contrasts and admiration |
